The Billion-Dollar Workout

What investors are funding in longevity biotechnology, and what exercise can already support today.

$3.1B

$435M

NewLimit valuation after its 2026 funding round.

Latest NewLimit funding round. First human trial planned for 2027.

What This Comparison Shows

The biotechnology programs below are developing potential medical treatments. Exercise does not replace those treatments. The comparison shows that aerobic and resistance training can already support many of the physical capacities associated with healthspan, including cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, bone health, balance, mobility, and physical independence.

NewLimit: alcohol-related liver disease

Developing an RNA therapy intended to reset epigenetic markings in liver cells to a younger state.

No products on the market. First human study planned for 2027.

Aerobic and resistance training can improve fitness, strength, and physical function. It does not replace medical treatment for alcohol-related liver disease.

NewLimit: metabolic syndrome

Potential future expansion of its epigenetic reprogramming approach to metabolic syndrome, a cluster of conditions including high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and abnormal cholesterol.

Not yet in human trials. Further development depends on the success of the liver-disease program.
Aerobic and resistance training can help improve blood pressure, insulin sensitivity, glucose regulation, and overall fitness.

Available today.

Retro Biosciences: cellular
rejuvenation and healthspan

Developing drugs intended to rejuvenate aging cells and extend healthy human lifespan.
Drug development is ongoing. Sam Altman invested $180 million, and Retro Biosciences was valued at $1.8 billion in 2026.
Aerobic and resistance training can help preserve muscle mass, aerobic fitness, bone health, balance, mobility, and physical independence as people age.
